Knights requiring asistance
13 Apr 10
Today is a very sad day.......Today we learned we lost one of our own.
Please take a moment and say a prayer for TSgt Jason Leigh, his wife, and his daughters. Not only was he our brother on two wheel but a brother in arms. Jason you will be missed.
Also in the accident TSgt Jason Owens sustained a broken collar bone. May you get well soon.
Donation information to Jason Leigh family will be posted as we get more info.
Asistance for Alan
Alan joined the Army in October 83 and quickly decided to make it a
career.
His careers were Airborne Combat Engineer, Recruiter where he enjoyed
helping others change their lives and finally an EMT and SGM at the
AMEDD Ctr and School then retiring in June 2004. He decided to try the
civilian world like most retirees and he found a job that was right up
his alley, writing doctrine for DCDD. The military was such a huge part
of his life stepping back into it was so natural to him. When he
discovered the Green Knights was military affiliated that was also a
very easy choice for him and truly enjoys the brotherhood and
camaraderie of the club, when invited to step up as President of the
local chapter he was humbled and excited to step up to the challenge.
Alan was diagnosed on 28 October 2009 with a Colloid Cyst in the 3rd
Ventricle of his brain, after 4 weeks of severe headaches. This is the
part of the brain that holds the key to daily functions, memory, pulse,
heart rate, etc. The Cyst had to be removed on 30 October or death was
inevitable. Alan now sits in Warm Springs rehab unable to do most of
what he used to do. He is healthy and stable and performing great
physically but cognitively he needs many months of therapy. He is
almost out of annual and sick leave and they say it takes about 3 months
to file any type of disability paperwork, which means no pay. They can
only authorize a limited number of hours of advanced sick leave.
Solicitations for leave donations are being handled by Ms. Dorothy
Navarro @ DCDD, this can be done through her by filling out a 630a which
will be submitted to civilian personnel.
Zee not sure how to do the money thing? I have an account at Randolph
unless someone there wants to do that and collect or something. That is
a new question to me and a hard pride pill to even ask for so I will
leave that up to you and yours.
Today was a particularly emotional day for me as all the information
from the docs, therapists, insurance companies, counselors and civilian
personnel consumed and overwhelmed me. Then I read your threads and I
am reminded again that I am not in this alone and for that I thank you
all. Al has 44 years of life and I just want him to remember it and all
the great things he's done, he deserves that if nothing else.
Thanks again very much for your support and response.
Sincerely, Mary
